  1. Rachel,

I hunted down your post on moneysavingmom.com (more than a week late!) and found it! Hooray! Congrats on the beautiful, paid for furniture! We are in a similar sort of situation, except that all we have in our living/dining are is a kitchen table with four chairs, Rita's highchair and one loveseat…sooo having company over is a little more than awkward sometimes! We refuse to touch credit cards and those no-interest financing options, so we are waiting patiently. We have to build our entire emergency fund for three months before getting furniture, but hopefully our tax return will help us to get a jump-start on that fund.
Also, I am still struggling to understand how your food budget is so low. In Louisiana organics are SKY high because there is next to no competition for pricing,, so we do meat and dairy only, unless the organics are on sale. But we can't seem to eat on less than $80 per week. This also means our pantry is usually bare. Anyway, just trying to figure things out because we are loving the adventure of finding more money to save!

    1. I definitely think y'all are on the right track since you can't pay cash for furniture to just wait! We'd do the same thing!

As far as groceries go, we eat pretty simply. I started, last May, breaking down our grocery budget week by week with what I bought…it lasted only 2 weeks since morning sickness hit full force.

Maybe these posts will be helpful! It's on my blog to do list to do something similar to this again for a whole month.

      1. Thanks girl! Debt free is the way to be. 🙂

Those links are so helpful! I totally forgot that you had started that series. Thank you! I will start some meal planning tonight and hopefully eliminate food waste and downsize our food budget!
