We Sold Our House

Last Friday, we sold our home! We received the check on Monday and are currently 100% debt free {since our only debt was the mortgage!}

Thank you for all of your prayers for our family during this lean time of having our house on the market and paying both rent and mortgage. We felt the prayers! We never went without anything we needed and even though money was tight, there was always enough!

It is sad knowing that the first home we owned is no longer ours, especially since it was Paxton’s first home. We’ll always have wonderful memories of living here.

For a little trip down memory lane, here are a few of the rooms in our first home:

Now, we’re looking forward to owning a new home in Georgia, especially having a yard, a garden and decorating a new home!

  1. Such great news! Congratulations! Your consistency in obedience to a simplified life has been a blessing and encouragement to me as I've been reading your blog over the past year or so. Enjoy house hunting and planting roots in Georgia!

  2. So happy for you! God does provide–that's a lesson I keep needing to learn.

    Did you call Dave Ramsey and do the Debt Free Holler? (For some strange reason, my 5-year-old nephew, a Dave Ramsey fan, used to do the holler while he was sitting on the potty! I guess he probably was debt free. : )

    Hope you'll soon find an equally beautiful home to make your own, but oh, I hope you have a better attitude about moving than I do.

    1. No, we didn't call since it was just our mortgage that we owed on! However, when we own a home and have a paid off mortgage I'm sure we'll be calling because then we'll be completely debt free including our home! I'm looking forward to that day…although I don't want to rush it because I know it is probably about 10 years down the road! 🙂

  3. Congratulations! Debt free will be nice for us, we only have about 4 more years to pay on our house and we have paid off, some major bills this year. God is good, all the time!!!

  4. What a great feeling this must be! We are closing in on being free of credit card debt and then we move on to student loans. I love the feeling of paying off debts and getting closer and closer to owning a home! Looking forward to hearing about your house searching and making a home in Georgia!

  5. I know it's hard to say goodbye to that first house, but isn't wonderful to know that you can take your "home" with you?
    Congrats. Can't wait to see what God is planning next.

  6. Yeah!!
    Just a thought… keep living lean and saving the money you spent on the mortgage each month, add it too the proceeds from the sale and in a year or so you can have a 50+% down payment with possibly a 5 or 7 year mortgage on your next house.
