Bittersweet changes are happening in our family.

We are closing this chapter of life in middle Tennessee and John David’s role as Media Director at The First Family. We are sad to leave good friends that God has blessed us with over these past 2 years.

The new chapter will be beginning on October 11 when John David begins his new job as Technical Director at a multi-site church in Georgia! We are excited about joining the staff of this church and the wonderful things that are happening there as well as developing new friendships with fellow believers!

Needless to say, things have been busy lately! John David received the job offer last Friday and we traveled to Georgia Sunday evening to look for housing Monday. After an all day search for housing, we found a nice 3 bedroom condo on one level with a washer and dryer hookup, which was exactly what we needed! The bonus is that is has a 1 car garage! (God provides!!)

I began decluttering our home (very thoroughly) weeks ago when  John David decided to pursue the opportunity and that has helped my sanity a bit! We’re planning on having a garage sale this weekend.

We will be moving around October 4 and between now and then we are packing, cleaning and spending as much time as we can with friends.

We also will be selling our home. Please pray that it sells quickly!

It is very likely I’ll be blogging a little less this next few weeks. Between preparing to move, putting a house on the market and nursing and caring for a baby, I don’t know if I’ll have much time to blog! (And if I do have time, I’m sure it will be moving related posts!)

  1. Oh WOW! Best of luck to you both! Sounds like an amazing opportunity for your family. We'll be thinking of you during the move, and we will all miss having you in TN!

    1. Thank you!! It's exciting and a little sad, I've never lived outside of Tennessee before!

And this whole moving thing is why we can't attend your wedding. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures and I'll be sending you a gift (eventually…I haven't gotten Jessica's to her yet and it's been 3 months! I tend to procrastinate at times!)

  2. Wow. I wish I had the chance to meet you while living in TN. We live in East TN. Just said a prayer for ya. Best Wishes!!

    1. Thanks for the prayers Karen! (We won't be too far over the state line in Georgia so I may actually be closer to you there than I am in Middle TN!!)

  3. Praying for y'all. What a big step. I wonder if you will be any closer to me now. 😀 Good luck with everything. Hope it is smooth and that your house sells quickly.

    1. Thank you for the prayers! It is a little sad leaving our first house especially since it is where we brought Paxton home for the first time. I think once the house is empty I will be more emotional.

  4. Wow! What an amazing, exciting and anxiety provoking adventure!! 🙂 Many prayers sent your way as you pack up, sell your house, and settle into a new place.

    1. I know I will need prayers as I pack up and settle into our new home, moving is no fun!! It is very exciting but this next week and a half is busy!! (And adding in Paxton to the mix makes things that much crazier!!)

  5. Good Luck on your move and new endeavors!! I know its exciting and fun, but at the same time very scary!! You and your family will be in my thoughts during this time.

    1. Thank you Julie! The scariest part for me is packing up and moving! (Most people would probably say selling a house but I'm strangely not stressed about that!!)

  6. Congratulations and best wishes and prayers for an uneventful move. I am very excited for the three of you! Looking forward to the posts about moving. My hubby has been unemployed 21 months and we have been living on our life's savings and may have to sell our home as well. We don't really want to do that in this market, but sometimes we HAVE to do things we don't want. Maybe I can get some tips from your posts.

  7. I am very excited for you all. Moving can be very stressful, but I just know that everything will be okay. Look forward to hearing all the news about your new adventure. Congratulations to John David on his new job. Have a safe trip!

  8. Rachel, sending prayers your way for a smooth journey and a quick-selling house! Change is good. God will be holding you in the palms of his hands the entire time.

  9. Exciting and scary changes! Good luck packing up your home – I know form our recent move this summer that that is no fun! We also have some changes going on. Jason just lost his job yesterday out of the blue and we are surprisingly calm about it. I think we both know that things will be fine, we will be fine. There is a reason we made the decision to stay with family over the winter and maybe this was it! There is a reason I aggressively paid off 3 credit cards this month and this might be why! Everything will be fine and I love knowing that, through my faith in God to provide for us – and He will! Things will work out for you guys too, which I know you know 🙂 In the meantime, I will keep you in my daily prayers!

  10. Good luck! I'm in the UK and have (rather embarassingly) just had to look up where Georgia is….! Looks like you won't be too far away from everyone.
Looking forward to following your adventure! 🙂

    1. I'm not too good with geography either so don't be embarrassed!!! We are moving states but we're only moving 3 hours from where we currently are now (and 3 hours further from my parents which I'm not thrilled about!) It is an adventure and we're excited about what lies ahead for our family!!!
