A Simple Phone

Changing from a smart phone to a simple phone has really helped me simplify my life!

Six weeks ago, I decided to down-grade my Blackberry Storm 2 that I received for Christmas and switch back to my old Motorola KRZR.

The driving force behind the switch was saving $30 per month not having a data plan. However, I’ve found that with my simple phone I’m spending much less time on Twitter, Facebook and the web in general. Not being connected every waking hour is nice and I no longer reach for my phone first thing in the morning to check my Twitter stream!

I have $30 more each month and more time since I’m not wasting as much time using a smart phone!

A  simple phone is both frugal and simple!

  1. I am one of those people who has a "simple" phone. When I got married only 13 years ago, our first cell phone was one of those huge honkin' phones……which todays teens wouldn't be caught dead with. I do not think it is necessary to be constantly accessible to everyone, and remember when I was a kid and cell phones did not exist. How did we EVER survive????????? By the way, you and my SIL could be identical twins, and I am NOT KIDDING!!!!!!! Love your blog.

  2. You go girl!!! It's funny, I was just telling Jacob a couple days ago that I never want him to get me a smart phone/data plan. Not only would it cost more than what we pay now, but I don't want the temptation- I know I'd be on there all the time wasting time 🙁

  3. Good for you! My hubby keeps pestering me to get the iphone but you know, I like to be disconnected. I don't need to be tied up online 24/7.

    🙂

  4. Not being connected is nice sometimes. Often I leave my phone off and just have it for emergencies. People can leave a message on my home phone and I can get back to them when I'm not busy.
