Spring Cleaning

Since Sunday is the first day of Spring, I’m spending next week Spring Cleaning!

Beginning Monday through Friday I’ll be tackling my to-do list and getting my house in tip-top shape for spring and in preparation for baby (I will be less than a month from my due-date!)

Here is my spring cleaning plan:

Master

  • Declutter & organize master closet, dresser, nightstands
  • Hang up towel rod in master bathroom
  • Patch wall above dresser (will be enlisting hubby’s help!)
  • Dust ceiling fan
  • Dust baseboards/chair rail

Livingroom

  • Declutter
  • Clean ceiling (another honey-do)
  • Dust ceiling fan
  • Dust pictures on the walls
  • Dust baseboards

Studio/Office

  • Declutter and organize in studio (with hubby)
  • Dust baseboards

Nursery

  • Wash baby laundry
  • Organize Paxton’s closet
  • Purchase any items we need for baby not received at showers
  • Dust ceiling fan
  • Dust baseboards

Kitchen/Dining

  • Purge cabinets & drawers
  • Wash outside cabinets
  • Clean out freezer
  • Organize pantry
  • Organize closet
  • Clean oven
  • Clean out medicine cabinet
  • Dust baseboards/chair rail

Other

  • Put away winter linens in linen closet

Garage/Basement

  • Bring old grill to dump (honey-do)
  • Basement decluttering
  • Sweep garage

  1. I’m trying to get motivated to do some spring cleaning myself! So far I’ve gotten the drawers and cabinets in our bathroom organized. It makes me soooo happy to get ready for bed or the day now. Simplicity and organization give me energy. And now I’m much more likely to put things away when they have a specific spot to be put. Now I need to convince myself to go through my winter clothes to downsize and then clean out and organize the closets!

  2. Sounds like an awesome plan. I am impressed at your plan to tackle so much in one week while being so pregnant! This is the start of my spring cleaning week, too. I pretty much tackle 1-2 jobs per day and let it take as long as it needs to, but I am making good progress so far.

  3. I have a few days off work next week so will be starting the spring cleaning. I am taking part in the 2010 in 2010 declutter challenge. I have only decluttered 40 items so far so I am aiming to double that number next week!

  4. Since we are moving, I’ve been doing my spring cleaning the past few weeks. I decluttered practically everything, organized everything into their appropriate boxes, washed all the curtains and linens, and dusted and cleaned literally every item we own. So, I’d say my spring cleaning is complete! WheW!

  5. After reading your list. I think I’ll plan to do some spring cleaning with the bathroom cabinets. There not to bad but its time to go over them again. Wash living, dining and bedroom curtains. My biggest challenge is the toys. My daughter is in her teens now but we still have tons of toys from when she was little. I don’t have much storage space but I don’t want to get rid of everything. Its a job that I just keep closing the door to. I don’t really want to give away the items and am not big into Craigslist or yard sales. Maybe a consignment store would be the answer.

  6. Spring cleaning is what I am doing too! It will take however long it takes. With 4 kids that I homeschool, I can’t get stressed out if I don’t meet my goals of cleaning. However, it will be done. It makes me feel good when my house is clean and ordely. However, with all of the toys we are becoming pushed out. So, I am getting rid of the toys the kids don’t play with. They spend alot of time outdoors in all weather so, I don’t feel bad about getting rid of some of their toys. I gave the house a good cleaning in September from top to bottom of every room, and I just noticed that I have some cobwebs and dust under some furniture even though rearrange furniture frequently. So, time to clean and declutter. Now, we just have to decide whether or not we are going to have a garage sale or just donate it to Good Will. If we don’t donate it, it stands a very good chance of the kids going through everything again, and I don’t want that. The toys that will be removed from the house will be with their permission, but still they will eventually find the stuff and go through it if we don’t have a garage sale as soon as it gets warm. Ohhhh…. the decisions!!!
