33 Weeks

We have 7 weeks left until our due date, wow!! He’s definitely growing and has become very active! These past 2 weeks he has been constantly moving, especially at night. It seems like as soon as I lay down to go to sleep he decides it’s time to play! Thankfully, I can fall asleep even when he’s moving everywhere!

Sleeping is my biggest struggle now. I’m sleeping okay, I wake up about 3, sometimes 4 times a night and then have a hard time getting back to sleep! Yesterday morning I woke up for the 4th time at 6 a.m. and I laid down trying to get a few more minutes of sleep before the alarm went off at 6:30 but after about 5 minutes of tossing I just went ahead and got up! John David has been letting me sleep in some mornings since I seem to only be able to get solid sleep between the hours of 7 and 10…go figure!!

Other than not sleeping soundly, I still feel amazing! I’m not uncomfortable, don’t waddle too much, can still put my socks on, sit in the floor and get back up without too much trouble and I painted my own toenails last week!! I’m hoping I will continue to feel wonderful during these next 7 weeks while waiting for our baby boy to arrive! (I do honestly believe a lot of it is my attitude about being pregnant…I’m sure I could very easily be “miserable” but I am choosing to think positive!!)

Late last week I began organizing his tiny baby clothes and blankets in his dresser! So much fun! Then Friday night, my sister-in-law came to visit and we looked at everything together, his clothes, diapers, shoes, toys, books, car seat, and on and on!!

Tuesday I spent several hours in the kitchen preparing dinners to freeze for those weeks after Paxton arrives! I put 7 meals in the freezer and I know they will definitely help our adjustment to life with a baby!

Tuesday evening we attended a Labor class at our hospital. We had an excellent instructor and we both feel much more educated about the labor process! We have no strong feelings regarding natural birth or an epidural. We’re planning on me laboring naturally as long as possible and if it becomes unbearable go ahead and have an epidural. Of course plans are subject to change especially regarding childbirth!

    Happy Birthday Mommy!

You have such a wonderful attitude regarding your pregnancy, labor and delivery! I felt the same way as you, no opinion regarding meds and just trying to do it on my own as long as possible. I ended up with an epidural but I can honestly say I really enjoyed the labor and delivery experience. I told my nurse we would have fun and I really think we did! Looking back I wouldn’t have done it any differently and I do think my attitude and staying calm during the whole thing is part of the reason why our little girl is so laid back and such an easygoing little one. I hope the rest of your pregnancy continues to go well for you and you also have a fun delivery!

Thank you for sharing your “fun” experience! That really makes me feel better about the process…I am in control of my attitude!!

Great post! There are a few women that I know as an acquaintance…they are always complaining about being pregnant and childbirth. I for one, can’t WAIT to be married and have lots of babies (Lord willing!)…yeah, I know that they’re “a lot of work”, but that’s the best kind of work that I could ever want:)

You are so blessed – and you are blessing me by your positive attitude and enjoying the pregnancy!!

I do feel blessed! I have no reason to complain about being pregnant because it is such a blessing to be able to have children! There are so many women who would love to gain weight, have sleepless nights and achy backs and feet just so they could have a child. The slight discomforts are completely worth it!!

    um… do I see a popped belly button?! :)

    awesome.

    • Rachel says:

Yes…I saw that after we took the pictures, somewhat embarrassing but just part of it!! I keep telling my hubby that the baby should be done soon because my belly button has popped!!

Hey Rachel I am one of your followers on facebook and I love your blog. I am a 46 year old christian mom of 3 boys ages 23, 19, and 13. My 13 year old is named Paxton Chase I love the name Paxton and I can’t wait for your little Paxton to get here. God Bless You and Your Family.

    • Rachel says:

How fun that your son has the same name! I don’t know of any other Paxton’s! We love the name too, especially my hubby since it’s his middle name!!

Thanks for your sweet words about my blog! :)

I think you are doing a great job of staying positive. It really helps to have a good attitude while pregnant. I enjoyed being pregnant and the labor and delivery process. I was determined to continue to do things for myself. You were talking about painting your toes…well I shaved my own legs the whole time I was pregnant. The positive attitude does give the baby confidence…like someone else said in a comment. My son was so comfortable with my from day one. Also…I have always given him lots of hugs and I have always given him tons of kisses everyday. He will be 4 in April and he is the most loving little booger. He gives everyone hugs and kisses on the cheek. Even at a local resturant recently (I knew the lady) he had to give the waitress a hug because he spilled his drink and she told him not to worry and brought him another. So I believe that you can never give them enough hugs and kisses.
Good Luck the next 7 weeks!!

Thank you for the positive encouragement! I’m enjoying hearing stories from other women about how their positive attitudes made the last weeks of pregnancy and labor and delivery a wonderful experience!

And your son sounds like he is a precious little boy!! I can’t wait to give my little guys lots of love!!

I love your blog! I’ve been lurking for a little while but decided to finally comment. I am also pregnant with our first- my due date is April 26th, so we are very close! I’ve really enjoyed your weekly updates and hearing how your pregnancy progresses!

I’ve had a hard time sleeping lately too! I’m up an average of 3 times a night and I also sleep like a rock from about 6:30-9:00 am. I’d prefer not sleeping in right now, but we gotta sleep sometime! :)

And Mary- so nice to hear someone who has given birth and has a positive attitude about it! I love how you told the nurse you were going to have fun- how neat! I’m so tired of women being overly dramatic about it, so your perspective is very refreshing. :)

Thanks for leaving a comment and letting me know you read my blog!! (I’ve already visited your blog, we have a lot in common…minus the 67 acres, which we’d love to own…maybe one of these days!!)

Congrats on your baby! Our little ones will be really close…who knows maybe even have the same birthday! Obviously our sleeping struggles must be normal since you can’t sleep during the night and sleep best in the early morning hours too!! (Makes me feel better that I’m not the only one!!)

Your little belly is adorable!!! When I was in my third trimester. I spent a lot of my nights sleeping on the couch. Of course, I started out in the bed because I wanted to attempt cuddling my hubby. But….the belly and little Reagan won, and I eventually ended up on the couch:-)

    Hey Rachel
I just wanted to tell you this is Kid’s Consignment Sale season. If you look around, you will find church’s, mom’s groups, and several other groups, like Sugar Babies doing sales every Saturday. This is like a giant Garage Sale for baby/kids stuff. Mom’s unload their kids whole wardrobe for about 1 to 2 dollars a piece. As a mother of 4, I am hugely into this. I consider it like a swap. I sale the stuff they have grown out of, and purchase the stuff they need. I may pocket about $50 but I usually save $100 in wardrobe and shoes and baby equipment. I know your looking for advice for new mom’s, this is the best advice I can give. :)
