Book Review: Where Is God

We’ve all had times in our lives when we ask the question, “where is God?” Whether it’s the sudden loss of a loved one, tragedy striking in your church family or natural disaster, like the recent earthquake in Haiti.
Even those with strong faith can sometimes wonder where God is in those situations.
In the book, “Where Is God?” Dr. John Townsend explores why pain and suffering happen. He makes the statement, “The world, creation, all of nature suffered when humanity missed the mark,” that really drives home the fact that difficulties exist because we live in a fallen world.
He offers some ways to grow your faith to help get through the tough times. Through humility, prayer and doing our part (working hard while God is also at work) we can grow our faith which makes getting through the difficulties in life easier.
This book was not fun to read due to the topic, however, Dr. Townsend shared scripture and insights relating to making it through tough times without asking the question “where is God?”
If you are looking for an easy read that doesn’t make you think much, you probably won’t enjoy this book.
If you are going through a tough time or tend to pull away from God during tough seasons in life, I would recommend reading this book.
