My name is Rachel Boreing. I have been blogging for a little over 2 years now!

My first blog, The Simple Life of the Boreings, began in November of 2007 a blog to keep family and friends updated with what was going on in our life. Over time I began blogging more and more about our frugal lifestyle and simple living.

In September of 2008 I began an additional blog, Life: Frugal and Simple, which was primarily video posts of my show Life: Frugal and Simple!

At the beginning of 2010 I decided to re-name my blog to Frugal and Simple Living which is a combination of these two blogs! I still share about the things going on in our lives, living frugally and simply and have begun filming again…this time the show is Frugal and Simple Living!

So that’s a little bit of background about my blogging history!

I am 22 years old and have been married to my husband, John David, for 3 1/2 years! We were both 19 when we married and still in college! We lived in married student housing for almost 2 years…a tiny little apartment with cinder block walls, but it was home! In May of 2008 my husband accepted a job as a mortgage loan officer trainee and we moved to the county where we currently live and rented a much larger apartment…3 bedrooms instead of 1!!

When we moved, I was still in school, I had to take 2 CLEP tests to graduate so I was a stay-at-home wife/part-time student that summer! I began to realize how much money I could save staying home since I was able to bargain shop, cook from scratch, and cook dinner every night (which saves a ton over eating out!) When I graduated in August of 2008 with my degree in Agricultural Communications (basically an agriculture degree with a concentration in communications) I looked for a full-time job but couldn’t find anything. So I began working part-time from home for Tennessee Farmers Cooperative (where I interned the summer before). And began my true career, being a homemaker!

Due to my new found money saving skills, we began slashing our budget categories and saving like crazy! Our goal was to live below my husband’s income exclusively so I could stay home once we had children and to save a 20% down payment for a house!

In December of 2008, we purchased our first home at 21 and 22 years old with a 20% downpayment and a week later my husband resigned his job in the mortgage industry and accepted a position with our church, as Media Director, cutting his salary by nearly $10,000!

Then our frugal lifestyle became no longer a choice but a necessity! I’ve learned a lot about saving money, living on little, living debt free and making do with what we have which are primary topics on this blog!

In August of 2009, we found out we were expecting a baby! Our son is due April 21, 2010 and are so happy we have chosen to live frugally so I have the privilege of staying home with him!

So, that pretty much sums my life over the past 3 1/2 years up!
