One of Those Weeks

It’s really been one of those weeks! I don’t know if it’s because I’m pregnant or what but I’ve got a list of things to share…

It started Tuesday…as soon as John David left for work I brought a load of laundry down to the basement! (Go me, getting an early start on that laundry!) Well, after cooking for about an hour and a half I went down to get the laundry out of the wash only to find that I never even pressed start! Oops…

Then Wednesday I had a very similar experience! I put my roast the crock-pot and turned it on as I was peeling potatoes and carrots! Once I got all the veggies in, I started to leave the kitchen but realized that I never plugged the crock-pot in! Um…

And let’s not even start on my Wednesday emotions…I’ll just say I completely stressed myself out over attending a dinner, registering for “expectant parent” classes and getting transcribing work! Things that normally would never phase me but really got to me yesterday! Blame that on pregnancy…

And Thursday…

Well, the picture speaks for itself! This is what I woke up to! How do dishes stack up so fast? This is after 2 meals! I just really don’t understand! After my doctor’s appointment today and grocery shopping today, I attacked this mountain of dishes (and was sure to wash my dinner dishes tonight!)

Oh and notice the knobs on the drawers? Yeah, one is missing and has been that way since we bought the house…14 months ago. Maybe one day…

We still have Friday…no telling what crazy thing will happen!

  1. Bless your heart! I’ve had a few weeks like that too. But they just seem to be worse when you’re pregnant…maybe it’s our hormones! 🙂

  2. How funny….I have always had this OCD nature about me. While pregnant, I dropped everything I got my hands on(and couldn’t pick it back up again) & forgot EVERTHING all of the time. I couldn’t keep up with certian household duties either. I remember the vent hood over my stove in particular. I was way too FAT to reach up to clean it!!!! It stayed a wreck all the way through my 3rd trimester. Praise God for my teen step-daughters. I don’t think I would have made it through pregnancy without them. Our house would have been totally upside down!!!! Oh and….I don’t think I’ve really ever rocovered. I am still a forgetful clutz:-)

    1. I’ve heard that many women get “mommy brain” after having babies! Hopefully I won’t get it too bad because I feel so silly after doing crazy things!!

  3. I remember what those days were like when I was in my 3rd trimester with my son! Try to laugh at them now, because your “mommy brain” will only get worse once Paxton arrives! 🙂 Hang in there!

    1. Oh boy…I can’t see the forgetfulness getting much worse! I’ll probably have many more funny stories to share if it does get worse though!!

  4. That is total mommy brain. hehe
When I was pregnant I drove into a parking garage with a high top van totally forgetting it was a high top and knocked the sign off the chain. You know the sign that says if your vehicle is taller than this right here. Very Embarrasing. My sis in law sat a plate down on a hot burner while she was pregnant and it cracked in two and scared her so bad she cried. It gets better. 🙂

  5. I just ran across your blog and added you to my favorites.
I’ve had many weeks like this. After three kids, I can blame pretty much anything on “mommy brain”! 🙂

  6. Have you ever heard of the “FlyLady?”
I just learned about her yesterday and cant wait to read her website and check out two of her books from the library.

The way your kitchen looked last week is how my kitchen looks 5 out of 7 days a week! And I dont have any children!

  7. Rachel, I think what you have is more like just being a woman. Luckily, when the kids come they will remind you over and over what you have forgotten. Then, when they leave the nest, you’ll just know to check the refrigerator for the remote! True story. Hormones are the worst when you are pregnant….. until you hit menopause. Luckily again your husband will have learned to wait to laugh at you until the “Swing” has passed and you cna laugh with him.

  8. Girl, just get ready! Ridley is 1 year old and my mommybrain gets progressively WORSE!

Not to be the bearer of bad news or anything! 🙂

Thanks for linking up to Friday Fails! It’s so fun!
