Help for Haiti

{ We had 48 links & 30 comments; $50 was donated to Samaritan’s Purse! Thanks for linking up & leaving comments!}

“What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, ‘Go I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead.” -James 2:14-17 NIV

The past few weeks my husband and I have been praying that we will be more aware of the needs of others around us and if we have the ability to meet a need, instead of just praying, that we would take action!

Right now there is a need in Haiti! No, we can’t meet the need alone, the need is great; but we can take action and do what we can!

Since I’m taking action, I’m joining with Crystal from Money Saving Mom in a “Help for Haiti” drive. For every person who leaves a link on her site, she is donating $10 to Compassion.

If you want to take action in caring for the needs of those in Haiti, write a post about how you are taking action. I will be donating $.50 to Samaritan’s Purse for the Haiti Earthquake Relief fund for every link through January 21, 2010.

If you don’t blog, you can still help! For every comment I will be donating $.25!

What you can do to make a difference:

1. Give We are so blessed in America! If we have a roof over our head, clothes on our backs and food in our stomachs we have so much more than millions around the world. Consider giving a monetary donation to help! If finances are tight, give up eating out for the rest of the month and donate that money or just give $10…every little bit helps!

Here are a few organizations you can give to:

Baptist Global Response

Samaritan’s Purse

2. Blog Write your post sharing how you are taking action and come back and link up here and also at Money Saving Mom as well as the other blogs that are participating!

3. Pray Pray for those who have lost everything. Pray for the relief workers who will be in Haiti.  Pray for the Haitians, that they will be receptive to the gospel because their physical needs are being met. Pray that people in America will take action and give from our abundance to help those with nothing.

  1. We donated through Crisis Response International (CRI). They sent a team down yesterday to assist with search and rescue. Thanks for doing this!

  2. Along with a friend at work, we are planning a benefit luncheon for Haiti. We have a coworker who does missionary work in Haiti and has seen firsthand the poverty there. My friend and I both make jewelry, so there might be a possible silent auction as well.

  3. We donated to the American Red Cross this morning. Thanks for using your blog to help convince people to donate.

  4. We donated to the US fund for UNICEF and also to a local (Kentucky)-based charity called Ten Kids whose goal is to provide a safe home, education, etc. to Ten Kids I like the idea of giving to an organization meeting general needs of the people of Haiti and to one meeting the needs of specific children. We are so blessed–I can’t imagine the losses of the Haitian people.
