Save 3 months living expenses by December 31.Yay!! We reached this goal in July!! It’s wonderful knowing that we have a fully funded emergency fund!!
Pay $3,000 towards our “small loan”.We completely paid off this loan in June!! 🙂
3. Make an extra principal payment every month. Since we refinanced our loan and the payment is less, we have committed every month to make an extra principal payment for the amount of the difference of the two payments which is $44 a month. In addition to that $44, we made payments totaling $205.50 from our paychecks! So, in September we made $249.50 in extra principal payments! (We have calculated that if we pay $215 extra a month that we will pay the mortgage off in 15 years…$215 a month what we are aiming for but we realize some months we may not be able to make this much in extra payments.)
4. Keep all Miscellaneous spending (Medicine, Toiletries, Clothing, Gifts, everything but food) under $100 a month. We only spent $49.33 this month! What we purchased: Dog food, wasp killer, thread, iPod touch software update and vitamins. The extra $25 went to our Emergency Fund…since we are having a baby we’re trying to save as much as we can and every little bit helps!
5. Sell $500 worth of stuff from around our home by July 31 December 31. Due to my lack of energy we didn’t list anything on Craigslist or eBay this month…hopefully I will get some motivation soon to get rid of our junk!!
