Praying for Our Husbands

As Christian wives one of the most important subjects of our prayers should be our husbands! A Christian man, following God’s will who is the spiritual leader of his family, will be targeted by the enemy and we need to be interceding daily on his behalf for strength, wisdom, courage, discretion, and the power of God in his life.

A couple of weeks ago during our bedtime prayer I prayed for John David, for his emotions and the things that he is dealing with in his life and when I finished the prayer he told me that it was nice to hear me pray for him. In 3 years of marriage he should have heard me pray for him much more! It is something I had neglected daily because he always seems so in control about every situation and does not share every little emotional hurdle in his life with me like I share with him. He prays for me often, anytime my emotions get the best of me or I am dealing with a difficult situation, he is there praying for me and encouraging me to pray about the situation. I know he goes through many of the same issues yet I often don’t pray for him because he appears to have it all together.

Wives, we need to pray for our husbands! They are under attack from the enemy, in spiritual, emotional, and  physical warfare and we need to be interceding constantly (1 Thessalonians 5:17) for them and letting them know that we support them and are praying for them!

Why is it that we get so caught up in this world that we don’t take time to get on our knees and pray for our husbands?

I am committing to daily pray for my husband. I am beginning with the book “The Power of a Praying Wife” by Stormie O’Martian, in this book there are 30 chapters walking through the different areas of a man’s life that needs prayer. I encourage Christian wives who aren’t daily praying for your husband to make this commitment to him and to your marriage!

I purchased this book and read it last summer and thought it was great. She brings up a lot of topics that I never would have thought about praying for as well as begins with self examination of yourself regarding your attitude towards your husband! I definitely recommend it!

(You can order one (in used condition) off half.com for .75 plus shipping. I actually found mine at Goodwill and I am sure if your church has a library they have this book or would be willing to get one!)
